The GWS 310017 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling of steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and cast iron. Built to Series 2100 standards, it features a 1/8 inch (0.125 inch) diameter with a 0.010 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the cutting edge and extends tool life in demanding applications. The 4-flute geometry supports both roughing and finishing material removal in a single tool, while the right-hand spiral flutes and centercutting capability allow plunge entry and full-slot cuts. Submicron carbide grade construction delivers the hardness and wear resistance required for high-temperature alloys and hard ferrous materials. This tool is installed by machinists and CNC operators in job shop, aerospace, and general manufacturing environments.
This end mill is suited for use in vertical and horizontal machining centers, CNC mills, and manual knee mills equipped with compatible end mill toolholders. The 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance fits standard collets and shrink-fit holders designed for that shank diameter. With a 1/2 inch length of cut and 2 inch overall length, it is configured for work in restricted-access pockets and slots where extended reach is not required. Primary applications include contouring, profiling, slotting, and finish passes on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and cast iron workpieces.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders accepting a 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank (h6 tolerance). Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and cast iron.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC setup technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the toolholder secured in a vise or fixture before inserting or removing the end mill. Ensure the collet or shrink-fit holder is clean and within tolerance for a 1/8 inch h6 shank before clamping. Follow the machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures for tool runout inspection and torque values when tightening the toolholder drawbar or collet nut.
