The GWS 125977 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for material removal in non-ferrous metal applications. It features a 1/2 inch cutting diameter, a 2-1/4 inch length of cut, and a 0.09 inch corner radius that reduces edge chipping and extends tool life at the cutting corner. The 3-flute geometry with a coarse pitch and high helix style supports efficient chip evacuation during roughing operations. Overall length is 4 inches with a straight cylindrical 1/2 inch shank diameter held to an h6 tolerance. This tool is built from submicron-grade solid carbide and is supplied in a bright, uncoated finish. It is intended for use in end mill toolholders by machinists and toolroom professionals.
This end mill is suited for roughing cuts in non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, copper, and brass. The extra-long flute configuration and single-end design make it a practical choice for deep-cavity milling, slotting, and side-milling operations where extended reach into a workpiece is required. The right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting direction are standard for conventional CNC vertical and horizontal machining center setups. No coolant-through capability is present, so flood or mist coolant applied externally is the typical approach for heat management in non-ferrous cuts.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders accepting a 1/2 inch straight cylindrical shank. Intended for non-ferrous metal workpiece materials as indicated by primary material code N.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping specifications. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping, as submicron carbide end mills are sensitive to runout-induced premature failure. Do not exceed the toolholder's rated speed or depth-of-cut parameters for the workpiece material.
