The GWS 122878 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding machining environments. Built on the Series 1040 platform, it features a 1/4 inch diameter cutting edge with 7 flutes and a variable helix angle of 38 degrees, which helps reduce chatter and improve surface finish during aggressive cuts. The nACRo coating provides enhanced wear resistance and thermal stability, extending tool life in hard and abrasive materials. With an overall length of 2.5 inches and a length of cut of 0.75 inches, this end mill is suited for precision work in CNC machining centers and manual mills operated by machinists and tooling professionals.
This end mill is intended for use in applications requiring precise material removal in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, hardened steels, and similar workpiece materials where a high-flute-count geometry delivers improved finish quality. The single-end, centercutting design allows for both peripheral and plunge cutting operations. Its standard length configuration fits typical toolholders and collet chucks used in production and job-shop environments. The right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are consistent with conventional CNC milling setups.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide end mill for CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 1/4 inch shank diameter with standard collet or end mill holder tooling.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or collet is properly de-energized before loading or unloading the end mill. Seat the shank fully into the collet or toolholder to the recommended engagement depth and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or coating damage before use.
