The GWS 122664 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding cutting applications. Built on the Series 1040 platform, it features a 1/8 inch diameter with a 1/4 inch length of cut and a 7-flute configuration with a 38-degree variable helix. The variable helix geometry reduces chatter and harmonics during cutting, improving surface finish and tool life. The nACRo coating provides enhanced heat resistance and lubricity, making this end mill well-suited for dry or semi-dry machining of hardened steels, stainless, and exotic alloys. Submicron carbide grade provides the substrate toughness to back up the coating at elevated cutting speeds.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers, vertical mills, and high-speed spindle applications where small-diameter, high-flute-count tooling is required. Its single-end, right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction make it compatible with conventional CNC setups. The upcut flute geometry evacuates chips upward, keeping the cut zone clear in shallow slotting and side-milling operations. It is a practical choice for tool and die, mold making, aerospace component work, and precision production machining where fine feature detail in hard materials is required.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for CNC machining center collets and toolholders accepting a 1/8 inch straight shank, consistent with Series 1040 solid carbide square end mill specifications.
Installation is performed by machining professionals using ER collets, shrink-fit holders, or precision end mill holders sized for a 1/8 inch shank. Ensure the collet or holder is clean and free of chips before seating the tool, and verify runout with a dial indicator before first use. Do not exceed the holder's rated RPM or axial depth of cut for the diameter in use. Follow machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when setting cutting parameters.
