The GWS 122033 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. With a 1/2 inch mill diameter, 5 flutes, and a 0.02 inch corner radius, this tool is built for both roughing and finishing operations in a single setup. The nACo (FX1) coating provides elevated heat resistance and wear protection, extending tool life in difficult-to-machine workpiece materials. A variable helix and variable index geometry help suppress chatter and improve surface finish across a wide range of cutting conditions. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shop or production environments rely on this geometry for consistent results on tight-tolerance features.
This end mill is suited for vertical and horizontal machining centers running steel, cast iron, superalloys, and hard materials in roughing and finishing passes. The centercutting design allows plunge entry, adding versatility in contouring and pocketing operations. The short flute length and straight cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance make it compatible with standard end mill holders used across most CNC setups. It performs well in applications requiring a controlled corner radius to reduce stress concentrations at the base of milled features.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders. Primary workpiece materials: steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, and hard materials. Secondary workpiece material: stainless steel. Shank diameter tolerance h6 ensures a secure fit in precision tool holders.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Use the correct torque specification for the end mill holder per the holder manufacturer guidelines. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning the first cut, and verify coolant delivery matches the application setup since this tool does not have through-coolant capability.
