The GWS 121515 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for high-performance metal removal across a broad range of workpiece materials. Measuring 0.5 inches in diameter with a 1.25-inch length of cut and a 3-inch overall length, this single-end mill features four flutes with a 38-degree variable helix geometry. The variable helix reduces chatter and harmonic vibration, improving surface finish and tool life. Applied nACRo coating adds thermal resistance and lubricity, making this cutter well suited for demanding cutting environments. The submicron carbide grade provides the toughness and edge retention needed for consistent performance in production and job-shop settings.
This end mill is rated for use on a wide range of primary workpiece material codes including H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous materials, general steels, and superalloys. The right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction suit standard CNC machining center spindles. The upcut flute type promotes efficient chip evacuation. Center-cutting capability allows for plunge entry as well as conventional peripheral and slot milling operations. This tool is a standard-length, non-extended-reach configuration, appropriate for most general milling applications on vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S as designated in the supplier specifications. Designed for use in standard CNC milling applications with a 0.5-inch collet, end mill holder, or shrink-fit toolholder accepting a 0.5-inch square shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Verify holder bore cleanliness and confirm the shank is seated to the minimum insertion depth recommended by the toolholder manufacturer. Do not exceed the tool's rated cutting parameters; consult the Series 1030 speed and feed guidelines provided by GWS for the target workpiece material.
