The GWS 121497 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for demanding material removal in steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Built to Series 1030 standards, this single-end tool features a 0.5 inch mill diameter and a 0.03 inch corner radius that reduces edge chipping and extends tool life in both roughing and finishing operations. With 4 flutes, a right-hand spiral cut, and a submicron carbide grade, the 121497 delivers consistent chip evacuation and surface finish across a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous applications. Machinists and toolroom professionals rely on this geometry for high-feed passes and contour work where corner integrity is critical.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers and manual mills running steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The straight cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance fits standard end mill toolholders and collet chucks. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry, making it practical for pocketing and slotting operations. Variable index and variable helix design help suppress harmonics and chatter during aggressive cuts, particularly in hard-to-machine alloys and high-strength steels.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders. Primary workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. Secondary workpiece material is stainless steel.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists following standard toolroom procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before inserting or removing the end mill. Secure the shank to the h6 tolerance spec in a properly sized collet or toolholder and verify runout before beginning a cut. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling guidelines for appropriate feed rates and depths of cut based on workpiece material.
