The GWS 121492 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It features a 0.5-inch diameter, a 0.03-inch corner radius, and four flutes with a variable helix and variable index geometry. The submicron carbide grade and FX1 coating classification contribute to edge integrity and wear resistance across roughing and finishing operations. This tool is intended for use by machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, aerospace, die and mold, and general metalworking environments.
This end mill is suited for both roughing and finishing passes on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It performs in applications where a corner radius is required to reduce stress concentration at part corners or to meet print specifications. The straight cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance fits standard end mill toolholders. It is a single-end, centercutting tool, making it capable of plunge entry as well as conventional peripheral and slot milling.
Compatible with standard end mill toolholders accepting a 0.5-inch straight cylindrical shank with h6 shank diameter tolerance. Rated for primary use in steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, with secondary application in stainless steel. UNSPSC Code 27112803.
Installation is performed by machinists using standard end mill toolholders; confirm toolholder bore matches the 0.5-inch h6 shank before mounting. Ensure the spindle and all machine axes are at a complete stop and the machine is in an energy-isolated state before inserting or removing the tool. Apply appropriate runout checks after seating the tool in the holder to protect both the cutter and workpiece. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines and shop safety procedures for speeds, feeds, and coolant setup.
