The GWS 120949 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. It features a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, a 0.015 inch corner radius, and 5 flutes arranged in a variable index, variable helix configuration that reduces harmonic vibration during cutting. The overall length is 2.5 inches, with a 7/8 inch length of cut and a 3/8 inch straight cylindrical shank held to h6 tolerance. The submicron carbide substrate and nACo-based coating support aggressive feeds in hard and abrasive workpiece materials.
This end mill is suited for roughing and finishing operations on steel, cast iron, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It is a single-end, centercutting tool, allowing plunge entry as well as conventional and climb milling. The right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting orientation make it compatible with standard CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers. Typical applications include die and mold work, aerospace component machining, and general precision part production where edge integrity and tool life in hard materials are critical.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders accepting a 3/8 inch straight cylindrical shank. Compatible with CNC machining centers running right-hand spindle rotation. Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, with secondary compatibility in stainless steel.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. The tool should be secured in a precision collet or hydraulic toolholder to the full recommended gauge length to minimize runout. Verify spindle direction is right-hand before operation. Do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque range, and inspect the shank seating surface for chips or contamination before each setup.
