The GWS 120436 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in a wide range of materials. Built on the Series 1030 platform, it features a 3/8 inch mill diameter, a 5/8 inch length of cut, and a 2 inch overall length with a 3/8 inch square shank. The four-flute geometry combined with a variable helix angle at 38 degrees reduces chatter and improves chip evacuation during aggressive cuts. An nACRo coating provides thermal resistance and hardness, extending tool life in demanding applications. This tool is single-end and center-cutting, making it suitable for both plunge and peripheral milling operations. It is installed and operated by machinists and CNC tooling professionals.
The 120436 is suited for milling applications across a broad spectrum of workpiece materials, including high-temperature alloys, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, structural steels, and titanium and similar difficult-to-machine materials, corresponding to material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. The standard length profile and right-hand cut and flute direction make it a practical choice for general CNC milling setups in job shop, aerospace, and precision manufacturing environments. Its submicron carbide grade and nACRo coating make it particularly effective where tool wear resistance is a priority.
Compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by GWS Series 1030. Designed as a standard fitment for CNC machining centers and manual mills using 3/8 inch collet or end mill holders.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or tool holder to the recommended minimum engagement depth per the holder manufacturer. Verify runout with a dial indicator before initiating any cutting cycle.
