The GWS 1034101 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for demanding metal removal in both roughing and finishing operations. It features a 1/2 inch cutting diameter, a 0.03 inch corner radius, and four helical flutes with a variable helix and variable index geometry. The FX7 coating extends tool life in abrasive materials. The 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank is held to h6 tolerance for accurate fitment in standard end mill holders. At 3.5 inches overall length with a 1.25 inch length of cut, this tool is suited for moderate-depth profiling and contouring work. It is centercutting, allowing direct plunge entry where needed.
This end mill is intended for machining steel, stainless steel, and cast iron as primary workpiece materials, with secondary capability in non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It fits typical CNC machining center and vertical mill applications where controlled surface finish and edge integrity at corners are required. The variable helix geometry helps reduce chatter during full-slot and side-milling passes, making it practical for both roughing and finishing passes in a single tool. Compatible with standard end mill holders as the intended toolholding method.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. Secondary workpiece materials include non-ferrous metal, superalloys, titanium, and hard material. Shank diameter tolerance is h6.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or powered-down state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the end mill holder and torque the retention system per the holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning production cuts, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling.
