The GWS 101074 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance material removal in milling applications. Built on the Alumigator Series 1026 platform, it features a 3/4 inch mill diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 37-degree helix angle optimized for chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces. The three-flute, right-hand cutting and flute direction geometry delivers a balance of chip clearance and surface finish. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry as well as standard peripheral milling passes. This tool is intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in CNC machining centers and manual milling operations.
The 101074 is suited for milling aluminum and non-ferrous materials where the Alumigator Series geometry excels at high feed rates and elevated spindle speeds. The extended reach design, with a 1-5/8 inch reach length and a 4 inch overall length, gives access to deeper features and pockets without requiring extended-length toolholders in many setups. The bright uncoated finish is appropriate for applications where coatings may cause built-up edge on softer metals. Typical use cases include profiling, slotting, and pocketing operations in job shops and production environments.
Designed for use in standard CNC machining centers and manual knee mills accepting 3/4 inch straight-shank end mills; part of the GWS Alumigator Series 1026 platform optimized for aluminum and non-ferrous milling.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists following standard toolholding procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before inserting or removing the end mill from its holder. Seat the shank fully into a collet chuck, Weldon-style holder, or hydraulic holder rated for 3/4 inch shank tooling, and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping before each use and confirm runout is within acceptable limits before beginning a cut.
