The GWS 101012 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance material removal in professional machining environments. Built on the Alumigator Series 1025 platform, it features a 5/8 inch cutting diameter, a 2-1/2 inch length of cut, and a 37-degree helix angle optimized for efficient chip evacuation and reduced heat buildup. The three-flute geometry provides a balance between chip clearance and rigidity, making this tool well-suited for aluminum and non-ferrous materials. The bright uncoated finish is appropriate for applications where coating interaction with workpiece material is a concern. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops and production facilities are the primary installers and users of this tool.
This end mill is used in milling operations on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills where aluminum, composites, or other non-ferrous materials are being profiled, slotted, or pocketed. The right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional and climb milling setups. The single-end design delivers the full 5 inch overall length, providing extended reach capability for deeper setups without additional tooling extensions. Its center-cutting capability allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines that accept 5/8 inch shank tooling via collet chuck, end mill holder, or shrink-fit holder. Part of the GWS Alumigator Series 1025, intended for aluminum and non-ferrous milling applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the tool. Seat the shank to the minimum recommended insertion depth per the holder manufacturer's specification, and verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut. Follow all applicable shop safety procedures and machine tool operating guidelines when setting speeds and feeds.
