The GWS 100971 is a single-end square end mill designed for high-performance milling in aluminum and non-ferrous materials. Built from submicron solid carbide and coated with zirconium nitride (ZrN), it delivers sharp cutting edges and extended tool life in demanding production environments. The 3-flute geometry combined with a 37-degree right-hand helix promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces built-up edge in soft, gummy materials. With a 3/8 inch cutting diameter and 1 inch length of cut, this tool suits slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations. It is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops, production facilities, and toolrooms.
The 100971 is engineered for aluminum milling applications where chip loading and surface finish are critical. The ZrN coating reduces friction and resists material adhesion, making it well suited for high-speed passes in aluminum alloys, brass, and plastics. The right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction support conventional CNC milling setups. The upcut flute geometry assists chip removal from the cutting zone. This tool fits into standard 3/8 inch collets or end mill holders and is appropriate for vertical machining centers and CNC milling machines running aluminum-optimized toolpaths.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide end mill in the GWS Series 1025 Alumigator line, intended for use in standard 3/8 inch collet chucks or end mill holders on CNC vertical machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully and evenly into the collet or holder and torque the retention nut to the tool holder specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the cut, as excessive runout accelerates wear on carbide tooling.
