The GUHRING 9064080014000 is a solid carbide micro drill bit from the Series 6408 line, designed for precision drilling in demanding metalworking applications. It carries a wire gauge size of 54, equivalent to 0.0551 inches in decimal diameter, and features a 135-degree faceted point angle for accurate entry and reduced walking on hard substrates. The TiAlN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life at elevated cutting speeds. At 52 mm overall length with a 15 mm flute length and a maximum drilling depth of 13.6 mm, this bit is built for tight-tolerance, small-diameter hole work. A through-coolant design channels cutting fluid directly to the tip, reducing heat buildup and chip packing in deep holes. Machinists and tooling professionals working on CNC machining centers install this drill for high-volume precision production work.
This drill bit is suited for both primary and secondary workpiece materials across several material grades. Primary target materials include cast iron, stainless steel, and steel (ISO material codes K, M, and P). Secondary applications cover aluminum and titanium alloy (ISO codes N and S). The straight-cylindrical shank with a 4 mm diameter and 33 mm shank length allows direct mounting in standard collet chucks and drill chucks on CNC machines and precision drill presses. The submicron carbide grade and web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduce thrust force and improve centering on the cut.
Designed for use with cast iron, stainless steel, and steel as primary workpiece materials, and aluminum and titanium alloy as secondary workpiece materials, consistent with ISO material codes K, M, P, N, and S. Fits standard collet and drill chuck systems accepting a 4 mm straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with CNC or precision drilling equipment. Before mounting, verify the spindle and collet are clean and undamaged to maintain runout specifications critical at this diameter. Confirm through-coolant supply pressure and flow rate match machine and tooling requirements before initiating a cut. Avoid hand-tightening collets without a torque wrench or spanner where the machine specifies a tightening procedure, and never run the bit beyond its rated maximum drilling depth of 13.6 mm per pass.
