The GUHRING 9057230120050 is a spiral point tap designed for through-hole threading in a wide range of metallic workpiece materials. Built from cobalt high-speed steel and finished with an oxide coating, this tap handles demanding applications where standard HSS tooling falls short. It carries an M12 x 1.00 metric fine thread profile with a 6H class of fit and a D5 thread limit, making it suitable for precision threading work in production and maintenance environments. The plug chamfer eases entry into the hole and distributes cutting load across the lead threads. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and maintenance mechanics are the primary users of this tap.
This tap is configured for through-hole threading applications across a broad spectrum of materials including aluminum, aluminum alloys, cast iron, free cutting steel, structural steel, heat treatable steel, case hardened steel, stainless steel, sulfured steel, and tool steel. The 4-flute spiral point design pushes chips ahead of the tap and out through the bottom of the hole, making it well suited for CNC tapping operations and production runs where chip evacuation must be consistent. It is not designed for blind-hole work where chip packing would be a concern.
Designed as an OEM-style threading tool for through-hole M12 x 1.00 metric fine applications in standard tapping chucks, tap holders, and CNC rigid-tapping spindles accepting a 9.00 mm round shank with a 7.00 mm square drive.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or maintenance technician familiar with tapping operations. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the pre-drilled hole diameter is correct for the specified thread class before starting. Power down or de-energize any machine tool before loading or unloading tooling in the spindle. Follow applicable shop safety practices and machine manufacturer guidelines for speeds, feeds, and coolant use when tapping cobalt tooling into hardened or stainless materials.
