The GUHRING 9055240029000 is a cobalt stub-length (screw machine length) drill bit designed for high-speed drilling in aluminum and other non-ferrous materials. Built to DIN 1897 standards, this M35 cobalt-grade bit features a 118-degree four-facet split point with web thinning for reduced thrust and cleaner entry. The 2.90 mm diameter and compact 46 mm overall length make it well-suited for applications where a standard-length bit would deflect or where clearance is limited. Machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and industrial maintenance technicians reach for stub-length cobalt bits when dimensional accuracy and chip control matter.
This drill bit is appropriate for use on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines in job shops, production facilities, and maintenance environments. The stub-length body reduces overhang, improving rigidity during drilling operations in aluminum, soft steel, and similar materials. The straight-cylindrical shank accommodates standard drill chucks and collet holders. The right-hand spiral flute geometry evacuates chips efficiently in through-hole and shallow blind-hole applications. Maximum drilling depth is 11.65 mm, which aligns with the short flute length of 16 mm.
Designed as an OEM-compatible replacement or direct-use stub drill bit conforming to DIN 1897 specifications, suitable for use with standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 2.90 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Listed under GUHRING Series 5524.
Secure the shank fully in a properly sized collet or drill chuck before operating. Ensure the machine spindle is at a complete stop before inserting or removing the bit. Follow applicable shop safety standards and machine manufacturer guidelines for speed and feed settings appropriate to the workpiece material. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use, as a damaged point affects hole quality and can increase the risk of bit breakage.
