The GUHRING 9055230057900 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for demanding metal-cutting applications. Built to M35 cobalt steel specification, it offers greater heat and wear resistance than standard high-speed steel, making it well-suited for harder and more abrasive workpiece materials. The bit carries a 118-degree four-facet split point with web thinning, which reduces thrust at entry and improves centering without a pilot hole. Overall length is 93.00 mm (3.66 inches) with a flute length of 57.00 mm (2.24 inches) and a straight-cylindrical shank diameter of 5.79 mm (0.228 inches). It is manufactured to DIN 338 standards and arrives in a bright, uncoated finish. This is a single-piece unit sold individually.
This drill bit is intended for use in metalworking environments where consistent hole quality and dimensional accuracy are required. The Series 5523 is rated for primary workpiece materials including aluminum, general steels, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals, corresponding to material codes K, M, N, and P. It is appropriate for use in both manual drill press setups and CNC machining centers where straight-shank tooling is accepted. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and regular spiral geometry support efficient chip evacuation in through-hole and blind-hole drilling at moderate to aggressive feed rates.
Designed as a DIN 338 jobber-length replacement drill in wire size 1 (0.2280 inch decimal equivalent), compatible with any drill chuck or CNC toolholder accepting a 5.79 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Rated for workpiece material codes K, M, N, and P per the supplier specification.
Install in a properly sized drill chuck or collet toolholder rated for the shank diameter before use. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the spindle is at the correct RPM and feed rate for the target material before engaging the cut. Inspect the cutting edge for wear or chipping before each use, as cobalt bits can fracture if run on a damaged edge. Resharpening should be performed on a drill grinder capable of reproducing the four-facet split-point geometry.
