The GUHRING 9055180160000 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding shop and production environments. It features a 16 mm diameter, a 130-degree point angle with a proprietary point geometry, and a web-thinned tip that reduces entry force and improves centering accuracy. The three-flute, regular spiral design promotes faster chip evacuation compared to standard two-flute configurations. At 133 mm overall length with an 83 mm flute length, this bit fits standard drill chucks and CNC machining center toolholders. It is sized to a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and conforms to DIN specification standards. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users.
This drill is rated for cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials, making it well suited for production drilling in automotive, aerospace, and general metalworking applications. The bright uncoated finish keeps the carbide substrate exposed, which is preferred in certain non-ferrous applications where coating adhesion or chip welding is a concern. No coolant-through capability is present, so external flood or mist coolant delivery is the appropriate cooling method for high-cycle use. It is intended for use in both manual drill press setups and CNC machining centers where rigid toolholding is available.
Designed as a high-performance OEM-style jobber drill for use in standard 16 mm drill chucks, collet chucks, and CNC machining center toolholders rated for solid carbide tooling in cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous workpiece materials.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators familiar with solid carbide tooling requirements. Solid carbide drills require rigid, vibration-free toolholding - avoid use in handheld or loosely fixtured setups, as carbide is brittle and will fracture under lateral loading. Power down and lock out the machine before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. External coolant or mist lubrication is recommended during high-cycle production runs to manage heat at the cutting zone.
