The GUHRING 9055140078000 is a screw machine length solid carbide drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in cast iron and steel. It features a 0.3071-inch diameter, a 140-degree split point (SU type), and a two-flute regular spiral configuration. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 8.00 mm in diameter and seats securely in standard drill chucks and collet holders. Web thinning with a parallel web configuration reduces thrust and improves centering accuracy at the point. This bit is built to Series 5514 standards per DIN 6537K and is intended for use by machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and maintenance technicians working with ferrous materials.
This drill bit is suited for screw machine operations, CNC machining centers, and manual drill press applications where a compact, stub-length tool is preferred for rigidity. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and 41.00 mm flute length support chip evacuation in short-hole drilling cycles. Primary workpiece materials include cast iron and steel, making it a practical choice for production drilling in job shops, maintenance facilities, and manufacturing environments. Coolant-through capability is not available on this model, so external coolant or cutting fluid application is recommended when drilling harder steels at elevated feeds and speeds.
Designed for use in straight-shank drill chucks and collet systems accepting an 8.00 mm shank diameter. Suitable for drilling cast iron and steel workpieces as an OEM-style production drill in CNC and manual machine tool applications within the Series 5514 product family.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with carbide tooling. Ensure the machine spindle and chuck are clean and free of runout before seating the shank to avoid chipping the carbide. Carbide drills are brittle compared to high-speed steel and should not be used in handheld drill applications or where workpiece fixturing is insecure. Apply appropriate cutting fluid externally when drilling steel to manage heat, as this model does not support coolant-through delivery.
