The GUHRING 9055140055500 is a screw machine length solid carbide drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding production environments. Built from submicron-grade solid carbide and coated with a multi-layer nano-FIREX finish, this bit delivers extended tool life and thermal resistance in tough materials. It features a 140-degree, 4-facet point with web thinning for fast penetration and reduced thrust force. The overall length of 2.5984 inches and straight cylindrical shank make it compatible with standard drill chucks and collets. It is used by machinists, tool and die shops, and production drilling operations that require consistent performance across high-volume runs.
This drill bit is suited for production-level applications in both manual and CNC machine tool setups. The screw machine length profile provides added rigidity compared to jobber-length bits, making it ideal for short-hole drilling operations where concentricity and surface finish matter. Primary workpiece materials include brass, cast iron, hardened materials, nickel alloy, stainless steel, steel, and titanium alloy. The right-hand cutting direction and regular spiral flute geometry support consistent chip evacuation across these material families.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machines accepting straight-shank tooling with a 0.2362-inch shank diameter. Suitable for drilling brass, cast iron, hardened materials, nickel alloy, stainless steel, steel, and titanium alloy workpieces.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool circuit is de-energized before changing tooling. Secure the shank fully in the collet or chuck to the recommended grip length to prevent runout and pullout during operation. Verify spindle speed and feed rate are set appropriately for the workpiece material before commencing the cut.
