The GUHRING 9055110070000 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for demanding metal-cutting applications in professional machining environments. Built to DIN 6537L standards, it features a 140-degree split-point (SU) tip geometry with web thinning for self-centering entry without a center punch. The FIREX coating improves wear resistance and heat dissipation, extending tool life in abrasive workpiece materials. At 0.2756 inches in diameter with a 3.5827-inch overall length and a straight-cylindrical shank, this bit is sized for precision work in machine tool setups. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and production drilling operators are the primary users of this bit.
This drill bit is engineered for cutting cast iron and steel, corresponding to material codes K and P. It is suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and production environments where consistent hole quality and tool longevity are priorities. The through-coolant capability supports high-speed drilling cycles where flood or internal coolant delivery is available. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and 53 mm flute length accommodate moderate-depth through-hole applications in production environments. Maximum drilling depth is 1.6730 inches (42.50 mm), making it appropriate for jobber-length through-hole work in steel and cast iron components.
Designed for use in machine tool spindles and CNC drilling setups accepting a 0.3150-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suited for primary workpiece materials cast iron and steel (material codes K and P) per the Series 5511 application specification.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with carbide tooling. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank in a compatible collet or drill chuck to the full shank engagement depth before operation. Carbide is brittle — avoid lateral loading, interrupted cuts without proper feed adjustment, or dropping the tool on hard surfaces. Ensure through-coolant is connected and flowing before initiating high-speed drilling cycles to prevent thermal shock to the carbide substrate.
