The GUHRING 9055100160000 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding industrial applications. Built to DIN 6537K standards, this Series 5510 bit features a 140-degree, 4-facet point geometry with web thinning for reduced thrust and cleaner entry. The submicron-grade carbide substrate is finished with GUHRING nano-FIREX multi-layer coating, which extends tool life when cutting hard and abrasive materials. At 16 mm in diameter with an overall length of 115 mm and a flute length of 65 mm, it delivers a 3xD cutting depth capacity. Coolant-through design supports high-feed machining strategies. Installed by machinists and tool-room professionals in CNC and manual drilling operations.
This drill bit is suited for production and job-shop environments where consistent hole quality in difficult-to-machine materials is required. Primary workpiece materials include stainless steel, hardened materials, nickel alloys, titanium alloys, cast iron, brass, and steel. The straight cylindrical shank accepts standard drill chucks and hydraulic or shrink-fit toolholders sized for 16 mm shanks. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio makes it appropriate for through-holes and blind holes where chip evacuation is managed with coolant. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional drilling setups.
Designed as an OEM-specification replacement or new-installation drill bit for CNC machining centers and manual drill presses accepting 16 mm straight-cylindrical shank tooling. Compatible with workpiece materials including stainless steel, hardened materials, nickel alloys, titanium alloys, cast iron, brass, and steel as specified by GUHRING for Series 5510.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine power isolated per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Verify toolholder runout is within acceptable limits before operation, as excessive runout accelerates wear on carbide tooling. Coolant supply lines and pressure should be confirmed before engaging the coolant-through feature. Do not use this bit in applications or materials outside the manufacturer-specified workpiece material list, as carbide tools are brittle and susceptible to fracture under impact or side-loading.
