The GUHRING 9043770035050 is a thread forming tap designed for creating internal threads without cutting, using plastic deformation to produce stronger, chip-free threads. Built from High-Speed Steel-E-PM (powder metallurgy grade) and coated with TiCN for improved wear resistance and tool life, this tap handles demanding threading applications in production and maintenance environments. It carries a 6-32 UNC thread profile with a 2BX class of fit and a Modified Bottoming chamfer of 2-3 threads, making it well suited for threading near the bottom of blind holes. Overall length is 2.2047 inches with a thread length of 0.4331 inches and a tapping depth of 0.7087 inches.
This tap is engineered for both blind hole and through-hole threading operations in a range of workpiece materials. Rated for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals (material application codes P, M, K, N), it fits standard CNC machining centers, drill presses, and tapping machines in shop and field environments. The 4-oil-groove design supports lubrication flow during the forming process, and the 3xD flute-by-diameter ratio positions it for typical short-to-medium depth threading tasks. It is sold individually (package quantity of 1).
Designed for threading 6-32 UNC internal threads in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals. Suitable for blind hole and through-hole applications where chipless thread forming is preferred over cutting taps.
Thread forming taps require higher torque than cutting taps and must be used with a compatible tapping fluid or cutting oil rated for the workpiece material. Secure the workpiece fully before tapping and ensure the tap is held perpendicular to the hole axis to avoid thread damage or tap breakage. Always check manufacturer-recommended drill size for forming taps, as the proper tap drill diameter differs from standard cutting tap drill charts. Follow applicable shop safety practices and machine guarding requirements when operating tapping equipment.
