The GUHRING 9042630063500 is a solid carbide corner chamfer end mill designed for precision material removal in demanding machining environments. With a 1/4 inch diameter, 5-flute geometry, and a 45-degree helix angle, this tool balances chip evacuation with surface finish quality. The FIREX coating — a proprietary PVD TiAlN/TiN multilayer finish — significantly extends tool life when cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. The 0.004 inch chamfer width and 45-degree chamfer angle produce consistent edge breaks without secondary deburring operations. Centercutting capability enables plunging and helical interpolation entries.
This end mill suits single-setup machining operations across both roughing and finishing passes. It is a right-hand cut, right-hand flute tool with a straight cylindrical shank, making it compatible with standard end mill holders and collet chucks. Typical applications include shouldering, slotting, ramp-down milling, helical interpolation, drill milling, and plunging and recessing operations. The close pitch and high helix style make it well suited for work in steel and stainless steel where heat and chip management are critical. It is used in CNC machining centers across job shops, aerospace, and precision manufacturing environments.
Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium (material codes P, M, K, S). Secondary workpiece materials include non-ferrous metals and hard materials (codes N, H). Fits standard 1/4 inch end mill holders and collet chucks accepting a straight cylindrical shank with h6 shank diameter tolerance.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in the holder to the recommended gauge length and torque the set screw or collet nut per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout at the tool tip with a dial indicator before beginning a cut; excessive runout accelerates edge wear and reduces chamfer accuracy.
