The GUHRING 9042500127000 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metal-cutting applications. Built to Series 4250 specifications, it features a variable helix angle ranging from 35 to 38 degrees, which reduces harmonic vibration and improves surface finish at the cut. The single-end, four-flute design with a spiral flute geometry and FIREX coating delivers extended tool life when working ferrous and hard materials. At 0.5 inches in diameter with a 2-inch length of cut and 4.5-inch overall length, this tool fits standard CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with a 0.5-inch collet or Weldon flat holder.
This end mill is suited for machining cast iron, steel, stainless steel, and hard materials in both production and job-shop environments. It is centercutting, allowing plunge entry directly into the workpiece without a pre-drilled pilot hole. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional vertical and horizontal milling setups. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers in aerospace, tooling, and general metalworking shops are the primary users. The long-series length classification provides added reach for deeper cavities and pockets where standard-length tools cannot access the full feature depth.
Designed for use with 0.5-inch diameter end mill holders or collet chucks with Weldon flat drive. Primary workpiece materials are cast iron and steel; secondary rated materials include stainless steel and hard materials per material codes K, P, H, M, and S as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out per shop safety procedures. Secure the Weldon flat shank firmly in the holder to the manufacturer-specified engagement depth before tightening set screws. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates tool wear and degrades surface finish. Speeds and feeds should be set according to the workpiece material and machine capability; consult GUHRING cutting data tables for Series 4250 parameters.
