The GUHRING 9041120178600 is a replaceable drill tip designed for use with compatible modular drill bodies in the Series 4112 platform. It features a solid carbide construction with a cutting diameter of 0.7031 inches (45/64 inch) and a 140-degree two-facet point geometry that promotes clean entry and reduces thrust in ferrous materials. The tip carries a nano-FIREX coating applied via PVD process, which provides thermal resistance and extended wear life under high-speed drilling conditions. With a functional length of 0.3034 inches and an overall projection of 0.4334 inches, this tip is suited for precision hole-making where insert exchange is preferred over regrinding solid drills. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers.
This replaceable tip is intended for drilling steel as its primary workpiece material, with secondary suitability for stainless steel and cast iron. The helical, web-thinned flute design and regular spiral configuration help manage chip evacuation in these demanding materials. It fits a Seat Size 175 insert pocket, making it compatible with modular drill bodies engineered for that seat designation. The 2-flute configuration is standard for general-purpose hole-making in both production and job-shop environments where through-coolant is not required.
Designed for use with Series 4112 modular drill bodies that accept a Seat Size 175 replaceable tip insert. Primary workpiece material is steel (P); secondary materials include stainless steel (M) and cast iron (K). No coolant-through capability is required in the drill body for this tip.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician following the drill body manufacturer's torque and seating procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before exchanging the insert tip. Inspect the seat pocket for chips or debris before seating the new tip, as contamination can affect runout and tool life. Do not use the tip in applications requiring through-coolant delivery, as this insert does not support that feature.
