The GUHRING 9041120174600 is a carbide replaceable tip drill from the Series 4112 line, designed for precision hole-making in steel and stainless steel applications. The drill features a solid carbide insert with a 140-degree included angle and a 2-facet insert geometry, allowing for accurate centering and reduced thrust force on entry. The HT800 carbide grade insert is finished with a Nano-FIREX PVD coating applied via physical vapor deposition, which enhances surface hardness and extends tool life in demanding ferrous cutting conditions. This replaceable tip design allows technicians to swap worn inserts without replacing the full drill body, reducing tooling cost per hole.
This drill is suited for machining operations targeting primary workpiece materials classified as steel (P) and secondary materials including stainless steel (K/M). It is appropriate for use in CNC machining centers and drilling applications where consistent hole quality and insert-seat repeatability are required. The insert seat size is rated at 170, and the functional length of the carbide tip is 11.00 mm. Coolant-through capability is not supported on this configuration, so flood or mist coolant delivery at the periphery should be used when cutting conditions require it.
Designed for use with GUHRING Series 4112 replaceable tip drill bodies accepting an insert seat size of 170 at an 11/16 inch nominal drill diameter.
Installation of replaceable carbide tip drills should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the drill body and insert seat are clean and free of chips or debris before seating the carbide tip, as contamination on the seating surface can cause insert misalignment and premature failure. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Follow the tool manufacturer torque specifications for the insert clamping mechanism, and verify runout at the tip after installation before beginning a production cut.
