The GUHRING 9039630180000 is a spiral flute tap designed for cutting M18x2.50 metric internal threads in production and maintenance environments. Built from cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a MolyGlide proprietary coating, this tap delivers extended tool life in abrasive and tough workpiece materials. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threading closer to the bottom of blind holes than a standard plug tap. With a 40-degree helix angle and right-hand flute geometry, chip evacuation is efficient during through-hole and shallow blind-hole tapping operations. Licensed machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary users of this tool.
This tap is suited for tapping steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials in both manual and CNC tapping applications. The 6H class of fit produces a standard tolerance thread commonly specified for general mechanical assemblies. The Series 3963 four-flute fast-flute design supports use in moderate-to-high production environments where chip control and thread quality consistency are critical. It is well-suited for vertical machining centers, radial drill presses, and tapping heads where rigid or semi-rigid tapping cycles are employed.
Designed for tapping M18x2.50 metric threads in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous workpiece materials. Compatible with rigid and semi-rigid tapping setups using standard M18 tap holders.
This tap should be installed and operated by a qualified machinist familiar with tapping speeds, feeds, and cutting fluid requirements for the workpiece material. Ensure the spindle and tap holder are properly aligned before beginning the tapping cycle to avoid tap breakage or thread distortion. Cutting fluid or tapping compound appropriate for the workpiece material should be applied. Follow machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when handling rotating cutting tools.
