The GUHRING 9039630100000 is a cobalt spiral flute tap designed for blind hole threading in metric applications. Built to a 6H class of fit with an M10 x 1.50 thread size, it delivers precise internal threads in a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 40-degree helix angle and fast flute style evacuate chips efficiently from the hole, reducing the risk of chip packing and tap breakage. A MolyGlide finish lowers friction during the cut and extends tool life. With an overall length of 2.941 inches and a shank diameter of 0.381 inches, this tap fits standard tapping chucks and holders used in machine shops and maintenance environments.
This tap is suited for blind hole threading operations in materials including aluminum and other non-ferrous metals, gray cast iron, malleable iron, spheroidal iron, and steel. It is a right-hand thread, right-hand flute tool in GUHRING Series 3963. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threading closer to the bottom of a blind hole than a standard taper or plug chamfer, making it a practical choice for tight-tolerance threaded inserts, fastener holes, and fixture work where full thread depth near the hole bottom is required.
Rated for use in aluminum and other non-ferrous metals, gray cast iron, malleable iron, spheroidal iron, and steel. Coolant-through feature is not available on this tap. Part of GUHRING Series 3963.
Installation is performed by a machinist or maintenance technician using a tapping chuck, rigid holder, or tapping arm sized for a 0.381-inch shank diameter. Power down or de-energize the machine and secure the workpiece before tool changes. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to protect both the tap and the finished thread. Do not reverse the tap until a full thread has been started, and back out carefully to avoid galling the threads in harder materials.
