The GUHRING 9039500021840 is a spiral flute tap designed for blind hole threading in steel applications. Built from cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiCN coating, this tap delivers heat and wear resistance in demanding cutting conditions. It features a 3-flute, right-hand spiral design with a 40-degree helix angle that efficiently evacuates chips upward out of the hole. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threading closer to the bottom of a blind bore than a standard bottoming tap. Thread specification is No. 2-64 UNF, Class of Fit 2B, with H2 and H3 thread limits. Overall length is 1.751 inches. This is a Series 3950 tap intended for use by machinists and tool-room professionals.
This tap is suited for blind hole threading in alloy steel and unalloyed steel workpieces. The right-hand flute and right-hand thread configuration make it a standard orientation for most CNC and manual tapping operations. The fast flute style improves chip flow at higher RPMs, which is common in production tapping on machining centers or drill presses. The TiCN coating reduces built-up edge and extends tool life when cutting harder steel grades. At 0.024 pounds, it is a small-format tap appropriate for precision work on small fastener threads.
Designed for blind hole threading in alloy steel and unalloyed steel workpieces. Compatible with standard tapping chucks and holders accepting a 0.141-inch shank diameter. Suitable for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual tapping operations using No. 2-64 UNF thread forms.
This tap should be installed by qualified machinists familiar with thread cutting operations. Power down and secure the workpiece before loading the tap into the holder. Use appropriate tapping fluid or cutting oil for steel to reduce heat and improve thread quality. Do not exceed the recommended cutting speed for the workpiece material, and avoid forcing the tap into the blind hole to prevent breakage.
