The GUHRING 9039310041660 is a spiral flute tap designed for blind hole threading in a range of materials including aluminum and aluminum alloy. It cuts an 8-32 UNC right-hand thread to a 2B class of fit and carries both H3 and H4 thread limits for controlled tolerance output. The tap is manufactured from cobalt with a bright, uncoated finish. Its 45-degree helix angle and fast flute style are well suited to pulling chips up and out of the hole during the tapping cycle. Overall length is 2.13 inches. This tool is installed by machinists, toolroom technicians, and maintenance trades working with threaded fastener applications.
This tap is intended for blind hole threading operations where chip evacuation is critical to thread quality and tap life. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threading closer to the bottom of a blind hole than a standard plug or taper chamfer. With a 45-degree helix angle and fast flute geometry, it handles softer, gummy materials such as aluminum and aluminum alloys efficiently. It is part of the GUHRING Series 3931 and is packaged individually.
Rated for use in aluminum and aluminum alloy. Designed for blind hole threading applications requiring an 8-32 UNC right-hand thread to a 2B class of fit.
This tap should be installed in a tapping chuck or rigid holder appropriate for the machine being used. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the spindle is properly aligned before beginning the threading cycle. Use a cutting fluid or tapping compound suitable for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve thread finish. Always power down and lock out the machine before manually handling or changing the tap.
