The GUHRING 9039030080000 is a cobalt spiral flute tap designed for M8 x 1.25 metric coarse threading in blind hole applications. Part of the Series 3903, it features a 40-degree helix angle and a fast flute style that efficiently clears chips upward out of the hole during the tapping cycle. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threading close to the bottom of a blind bore. With a 6H class of fit and D4/D5 thread limit, this tap produces accurate, tolerance-controlled threads suitable for precision assembly work. Installation is performed by licensed machinists or experienced tooling technicians working with compatible tapping equipment.
This tap is rated for use in aluminum and other non-ferrous metals, gray cast iron, malleable and spheroidal iron, and steel. The right-hand flute and right-hand thread configuration covers the most common production and maintenance threading scenarios. Its cobalt construction provides elevated heat and wear resistance compared to standard high-speed steel taps, making it well suited for harder or more abrasive workpiece materials. Typical applications include CNC machining centers, manual drill presses with tapping attachments, and hand tapping setups where close-to-bottom thread depth is required.
Designed for blind hole threading in aluminum and other non-ferrous metals, gray cast iron, malleable and spheroidal iron, and steel. Compatible with standard M8 x 1.25 metric coarse thread specifications at 6H tolerance class.
This tap should be installed and operated by a qualified machinist or tooling technician familiar with tapping speeds, feeds, and cutting fluid requirements for the workpiece material. Always ensure the spindle is fully powered down and at rest before mounting or removing the tap from the holder. Use an appropriate tapping lubricant or cutting fluid matched to the workpiece material to extend tool life and maintain thread quality. Do not exceed the recommended tapping speed for the material being threaded, as cobalt taps are not immune to breakage under excessive torque or misalignment.
