The GUHRING 9038990024000 is a solid carbide micro drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding metalworking applications. Built to Series 3899 specifications, it features a 2.4 mm (0.0945 inch) diameter with a TiAlN coating that extends tool life by reducing heat buildup and wear at the cutting edge. The 140-degree faceted point with web thinning promotes accurate entry and reduces thrust force. With an overall length of 38 mm and a flute length of 12 mm, this bit delivers controlled chip evacuation through its spiral flute geometry. It is used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in production and job-shop environments.
This micro drill bit is suited for drilling cast iron and steel workpieces where tight tolerances and small-diameter hole accuracy are required. The straight-cylindrical shank at 3 mm diameter seats securely in standard collet chucks and drill chucks. A flute-to-diameter ratio of 5xD supports drilling depths up to 8.4 mm (0.331 inch), making it appropriate for shallow to moderate depth micro holes in ferrous materials. The right-hand cut spiral flute configuration is the standard orientation for conventional CNC machining centers and manual drill presses alike.
Designed for use in cast iron and steel workpieces. Compatible with standard collet chucks and drill chucks accepting a 3 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Suited for CNC machining centers and precision drill presses requiring small-diameter carbide tooling.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with carbide tooling handling and CNC or manual drill press operation. Ensure the machine spindle and toolholder are clean and free of runout before seating the shank, as micro-diameter carbide drills are sensitive to lateral loading. Coolant-through is not supported on this tool, so adequate surface or flood coolant should be applied externally when drilling ferrous materials at depth. Do not exceed the rated maximum drilling depth of 8.4 mm without a peck-drilling cycle to clear chips.
