The GUHRING 9038990012600 is a solid carbide micro drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding industrial and machining applications. The bit features a 1.26 mm diameter, a 140-degree faceted point angle, and a TiAlN (titanium aluminum nitride) coating that improves wear resistance and heat tolerance at the cutting edge. With an overall length of 38 mm and a flute length of 10 mm, this drill is built for controlled, accurate entry into tight-tolerance workpieces. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 3 mm in diameter, allowing secure chuck engagement in standard toolholding setups. The web-thinned geometry reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation during drilling.
This drill bit is suited for machining cast iron and steel workpieces, as indicated by its K and P material grade ratings and its K40 carbide substrate. It is a Series 3899 tool from GUHRING, typically used in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and precision hand-held power tool applications where small-diameter, tight-tolerance holes are required. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports drilling to a maximum depth of 8.11 mm (0.319 inches) without coolant-through capability, making it appropriate for shallow, high-accuracy bores in production and toolroom environments.
Designed for use in cast iron and steel workpiece materials (primary material codes K and P). Fits standard 3 mm straight-cylindrical shank toolholders and collet chucks compatible with Series 3899 GUHRING micro drill tooling.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with small-diameter carbide tooling. Ensure the spindle and chuck are fully powered down and locked out before inserting or removing the bit. Carbide micro drills are brittle — avoid side loading, off-center entry, and interrupted cuts that can cause chipping or breakage. Use appropriate drill speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and confirm the toolholder is clean and free of runout before drilling.
