The GUHRING 9038990011800 is a solid carbide micro drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding industrial and trade applications. Built to Series 3899 standards, this bit carries a wire gauge size of 56 (1.18mm / 0.0465 inches decimal) and features a 140-degree faceted point with web thinning for accurate center-starting and reduced thrust. The TiAlN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life when cutting through ferrous materials. At 38mm overall length with a 3mm straight-cylindrical shank and a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio, this is a purpose-built tool for tight-tolerance small-hole work. Material grade K40 solid carbide gives it the rigidity needed to hold h7 diameter tolerance across repeated operations.
This drill bit is suited for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and precision hand-held pneumatic spindles where small-diameter accuracy is critical. Primary workpiece materials are cast iron and steel, matching material codes K and P. The spiral flute geometry promotes chip evacuation in shallow and moderate-depth holes up to 8.23mm (0.324 inches). Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional machine spindle rotation. Typical users include machinists, toolroom technicians, and maintenance professionals working in metal fabrication, mold and die, or precision manufacturing environments.
Designed as an OEM-style micro drill for precision metalworking operations involving cast iron and steel workpieces. Fits standard 3mm collets and chucks used in CNC and manual drilling equipment.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with small-diameter carbide tooling. Ensure the spindle and workpiece are fully secured before engaging the drill to prevent bit deflection or breakage. Carbide tooling is brittle — avoid side-loading, interrupted cuts without proper feed rate adjustment, and drop impacts. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines for spindle speed and feed rate when drilling cast iron or steel at this diameter.
