The GUHRING 9038990010200 is a solid carbide micro drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding industrial and machining applications. Sized at 1.02 mm (wire size 60, 0.0402 decimal inch), it features a 140-degree faceted point angle with web thinning for accurate entry and reduced thrust. The TiAlN coating extends tool life in abrasive and high-temperature cutting conditions. At 38 mm overall length with a 10 mm flute length and a maximum drilling depth of 8.47 mm, this bit is engineered for tight-tolerance hole-making in cast iron and steel. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 3.00 mm in diameter, conforming to h7 tolerance. It is used by machinists, toolmakers, and CNC operators requiring repeatable micro-hole quality.
This drill bit is suited for precision machining operations in job shops, production facilities, and toolrooms where small-diameter, close-tolerance holes are required in ferrous materials such as cast iron and steel. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio provides adequate chip evacuation at these micro diameters. The right-hand spiral flute geometry supports standard CNC machining center and drill press spindle rotation. Series 3899 from GUHRING targets micro drilling applications where solid carbide construction and TiAlN coating are specified for extended run lengths and consistent hole quality.
Designed for drilling cast iron and steel workpieces. Primary workpiece material codes K and P. Compatible with standard CNC machining centers and drill presses accepting a 3.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. No coolant-through capability; external coolant or cutting fluid recommended for optimal results.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine in a full stop and lockout-tagout procedures followed per applicable shop safety standards. The 3.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank should be seated securely in a collet or drill chuck sized to match, with runout verified before drilling micro-diameter holes. Avoid side loading or angular misalignment, which can cause catastrophic breakage at this diameter. Feeds and speeds should be set per the manufacturer tooling data for the specific workpiece material and coating specified.
