The GUHRING 9038990008100 is a solid carbide micro drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding industrial applications. Built to Series 3899 standards, it features a 140-degree faceted point, a TiAlN (titanium aluminum nitride) coating for heat and wear resistance, and a web-thinned geometry that reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation. The drill measures 38 mm (approximately 1.496 inches) in overall length with a 10 mm (approximately 0.394 inches) flute length and a straight-cylindrical shank with a 3 mm (approximately 0.118 inches) shank diameter. It carries an h7 diameter tolerance, making it suitable for tight-tolerance bore work. Licensed machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary installers.
This micro drill bit is intended for precision drilling in cast iron and steel workpieces, consistent with its K and P material grade classifications and K40 carbide grade. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and regular spiral flute geometry support stable chip removal at the depths this tool is rated for. Typical applications include precision component manufacturing, die and mold work, and toolroom operations where small-diameter, tight-tolerance holes are required. The right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional CNC and manual drill press setups.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or stock drill bit for applications requiring a wire size 67 (0.0319 inch decimal equivalent) solid carbide drill with a 3 mm straight-cylindrical shank, consistent with GUHRING Series 3899 tooling configurations.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with small-diameter carbide tooling. Ensure the spindle, collet, or chuck is free of debris and runout is within acceptable limits before securing the shank, as carbide micro drills are brittle and sensitive to lateral loading. Reduce spindle speed and feed incrementally when dialing in a new setup to avoid tool breakage. Coolant-through is not supported on this tool; external coolant or mist lubrication is recommended when drilling ferrous materials.
