The GUHRING 9038990006100 is a micro drill bit engineered for precision drilling in demanding metalworking applications. Built from solid carbide grade K40, it features a TiAlN coating that resists heat and extends tool life during high-speed operations. The bit measures wire size 73, corresponding to 0.0240 inch (0.61 mm) in diameter, with a 140-degree faceted point angle optimized for accurate entry without walking. Overall length is 38 mm with a 7 mm flute length. A web-thinned geometry reduces thrust force at the cutting tip, making this drill suitable for tight-tolerance work in cast iron and steel. Machining professionals, tool-and-die technicians, and CNC operators are the primary users.
This drill bit is intended for precision hole-making in ferrous metals, including cast iron and steel workpieces. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and spiral flute design promote chip evacuation in shallow-to-moderate depth holes up to a maximum drilling depth of 6.09 mm (0.2400 inch). The straight-cylindrical shank with an h7 diameter tolerance of 3.00 mm seats securely in standard collet chucks and drill chucks found on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and precision hand tools. This bit does not support coolant-through delivery, so external cooling or mist lubrication is recommended when drilling production volumes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement micro drill bit in the GUHRING Series 3899, suited for use in standard straight-cylindrical collet chucks and drill chucks accepting a 3.00 mm shank diameter. Primary workpiece materials are cast iron and steel.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine powered down and all spindle motion fully stopped before handling. Verify collet or chuck runout before use, as excessive runout at this diameter accelerates breakage. External cutting fluid or mist lubrication is recommended in the absence of coolant-through capability. Follow your machine manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when handling carbide tooling.
