The GUHRING 9038700254000 is a single-end, square-profile end mill tipped with polycrystalline diamond (PCD), designed for high-performance milling in abrasive and non-ferrous materials. It carries a 1 inch cutting diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 4 inch overall length. The straight-flute, zero-degree helix geometry is engineered for specific material groups where conventional helical fluting would generate excessive edge wear. With a 1 inch straight shank and a bright, uncoated finish, this tool mounts directly in standard end mill holders and collet chucks. It is a Series 3870 tool and is centercutting, supporting both plunge and peripheral milling operations.
This end mill is suited to machining applications involving high-silica aluminum alloys, carbon fiber reinforced polymers (CFRP), graphite, ceramics, and other abrasive composites where PCD tooling provides significantly extended tool life over carbide. Typical use cases include aerospace component finishing, automotive powertrain part machining, and precision composite panel work. The straight-flute configuration minimizes delamination risk in layered materials. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling setters in CNC vertical or horizontal machining centers with appropriate toolholding for 1 inch shank diameter.
Designed as an OEM-specification replacement or direct procurement tool for CNC machining centers accepting a 1 inch straight shank end mill in standard end mill holders, shrink-fit holders, or collet chucks with appropriate bore size.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the control is in an e-stop or tool-change state before loading or unloading the tool. Secure the shank to the published torque specification of the toolholder manufacturer — do not over-torque set screws against the shank. PCD edges are brittle; avoid contact with ferrous workpieces, hardened steel fixtures, or hard surfaces during handling and setup.
