The GUHRING 9037310120000 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. Part of the Series 3731 lineup, it features a 0.472 inch (12 mm) cutting diameter, a stub-length 0.63 inch (16 mm) length of cut, and four flutes with a variable helix angle ranging from 35 to 38 degrees. The variable helix geometry reduces chatter and harmonic vibration during cuts, making it well suited for harder workpiece materials. A FIREX coating provides thermal resistance and lubricity, extending tool life in abrasive or high-heat cutting environments. The centercutting design allows for plunge entry. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals using CNC machining centers and manual mills.
This end mill is engineered primarily for cutting cast iron and steel, with secondary capability in hard materials, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys. The stub length of cut and Weldon flat shank promote rigidity and reduced deflection in tight-clearance setups. The 12 mm shank diameter with h6 tolerance ensures a precise fit in standard collets and end mill holders. Right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute configuration is standard. This makes the 9037310120000 a practical choice for slotting, profiling, and shoulder milling operations where tool stability and coating durability are priorities.
Designed for use in standard 12 mm end mill holders and Weldon-style collet chucks. Primary workpiece material grades are cast iron (K) and steel (P), with secondary ratings for hard materials, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys (H, M, S material codes).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's toolholder torque and runout specifications. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. The Weldon flat must be properly aligned with the setscrew in the holder to prevent pullout under load. Do not exceed the rated speed and feed parameters for the workpiece material and depth of cut being used.
