The GUHRING 9036890160000 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding machining environments. Built on GUHRING Series 3689, this single-end mill features six spiral flutes with a 45-degree helix angle and a FIREX coating for extended tool life at elevated cutting temperatures. The cutter diameter is 0.63 inches (16 mm) with a length of cut of 1.26 inches (32 mm) and an overall length of approximately 3.62 inches (92 mm). It is a right-hand cut, right-hand flute design with a straight cylindrical shank. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals select this end mill for precision work where surface finish and tool wear resistance are critical priorities.
This end mill is rated for use across a broad range of workpiece materials including cast iron and hardened materials (K), stainless steel (M), steel (P), superalloys (S), as well as hard materials (H) and non-ferrous materials (N). Its centercutting capability allows for direct plunge entry, making it suitable for slot milling, pocket milling, and profile cutting operations in both manual and CNC machining centers. The FIREX finish provides thermal protection during high-speed cutting, particularly in stainless and heat-resistant alloys.
Compatible with workpiece material codes K, M, P, S, H, and N per GUHRING classification, covering steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, hard materials, and non-ferrous materials. Fits standard straight-bore tool holders and collet chucks sized for 16 mm or 5/8-inch shank diameters.
Installation and tool changes must be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine power isolated per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure the tool holder bore and shank are clean and free of debris before seating the end mill. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on multi-flute carbide tooling. Follow the machine tool manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material category being cut.
