The GUHRING 9031790190500 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill head engineered for high-performance finishing operations in demanding metalworking applications. It features an 8-flute, right-hand spiral design with a super close pitch, delivering smooth surface finishes and reduced chatter at aggressive feed rates. The 3/4 inch diameter cutting head carries a 1-1/2 inch length of cut and is protected by a FIREX PVD coating, a hard, wear-resistant finish that extends tool life when cutting ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. Shank diameter matches the cutter diameter at 3/4 inch, making tool holding straightforward. This is a single-end, non-centercutting design suited to peripheral finishing passes.
This end mill head is designed for finishing cuts on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, as well as secondary applications in non-ferrous metals and hard materials. Its stub length profile and high helix style make it particularly effective in setups where rigidity is critical and radial engagement must be controlled. Machinists and toolroom professionals working on milling machines or machining centers will find this head well suited to tight-tolerance finishing work where corner geometry and surface quality matter. The 45-degree chamfer at 0.006 inch width also provides a minor protective edge break at the corner.
Designed as a Series 3179 replacement or direct-application end mill head for milling setups requiring a 3/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, non-ferrous metals, and hard materials per manufacturer material codes P, M, K, S, N, and H.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Use a properly sized collet or toolholder rated for the 3/4 inch shank diameter to ensure concentricity and minimize runout. Verify clamping torque per the toolholder manufacturer specifications before running. This is a non-centercutting end mill — do not use for plunge cuts; entry must be made via ramping or a pre-drilled hole.
