The GUHRING 9031730190500 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metal-cutting applications. Built to Series 3173 standards, this single-end tool features a 0.75 inch cutting diameter, a 1.5 inch length of cut, and a 4.0 inch overall length. The 3-flute geometry with a 45-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. A FIREX finish provides enhanced heat and wear resistance, extending tool life in abrasive and high-temperature cutting conditions. The straight cylindrical shank measures 0.75 inch in diameter, fitting standard end mill holders and collet chucks. This tool is centercutting, enabling direct plunge entry into workpiece material.
This end mill is suited for milling cast iron, stainless steel, and steel. The regular-length flute design makes it a practical choice for face milling, slotting, and contouring operations in CNC machining centers and manual mills. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional spindle setups. The FIREX coating makes it particularly effective in dry or semi-dry cutting environments where heat buildup is a concern. It is appropriate for job shop, production machining, and toolroom applications where consistent surface finish and tool life are priorities.
Designed for use in standard 0.75 inch end mill holders, collet chucks, and shrink-fit toolholders. Primary workpiece materials include cast iron, stainless steel, and steel. Secondary workpiece material compatibility includes non-ferrous metals and superalloys per Series 3173 material codes.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Verify that the toolholder bore and collet are clean and within tolerance before seating the shank. Do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's recommended clamping torque range, and confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut.
