The GUHRING 9031550047600 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metal-cutting applications. Built on GUHRING Series 3155, it features a 3/16 inch cutting diameter, a 1-1/4 inch length of cut, and a 3 inch overall length, placing it in the extra-long category for reach into deeper pockets and slots. The FIREX coating provides enhanced wear resistance and thermal stability at elevated cutting speeds. With four spiral flutes, a 30-degree helix angle, and a centercutting geometry, this tool handles both plunge and peripheral cuts. It is sized for installation in standard 3/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank tool holders.
This end mill is engineered for milling steel, stainless steel, and cast iron — corresponding to material codes P, M, and K — as well as secondary applications in non-ferrous metals and superalloys (material codes N and S). The extra-long reach makes it well suited for deep-pocket milling, slotting, and profiling operations where a standard-length tool cannot access the full depth of cut. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration are standard for conventional CNC machining center setups. No coolant-through feature is present, so flood or mist cooling applied externally is the recommended approach for heat management.
Designed for use with standard straight-cylindrical tool holders accepting a 3/16 inch shank diameter. Primary workpiece materials are steel (P), stainless steel (M), and cast iron (K), with secondary suitability for non-ferrous metals (N) and superalloys (S) as defined by GUHRING Series 3155 application guidelines.
This tool is installed and serviced by machinists and CNC tooling technicians. Before changing tooling, confirm the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state per shop safety protocols. Seat the shank fully into the tool holder and torque the retention mechanism to the holder specification — do not exceed the holder or collet manufacturer limits. Verify runout at the tool tip before beginning the cut, as excessive runout will accelerate edge wear on solid carbide tooling.
