The GUHRING 9030780047600 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metal-cutting applications. Built on GUHRING Series 3078, this single-end tool features a 3/16 inch cutting diameter, a 5/8 inch length of cut, and a 2 inch overall length with a straight cylindrical 3/16 inch shank. The FIREX coating provides enhanced heat and wear resistance, extending tool life in ferrous materials. A variable helix geometry — with flute angles of 40 and 42 degrees — reduces harmonic vibration during cutting, improving surface finish and tool stability. Four spiral flutes with centercutting capability allow plunge entry and efficient chip evacuation.
This end mill is engineered for cutting stainless steel and steel as primary workpiece materials, with cast iron as a secondary application. It is suited for finish and semi-finish milling operations in CNC machining centers and manual mills where tight tolerances and material hardness demand a premium carbide substrate with a durable coating. The regular length type and straight shank make it compatible with standard collet and end mill holders commonly used in job shop and production environments. Machinists working in aerospace, medical, and general metalworking applications will find this tool well-matched to their needs.
Designed for use with standard straight-bore collet chucks and end mill holders accepting a 3/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel and steel (ISO material codes M, P, S); secondary application is cast iron (ISO code K).
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine fully powered down and in a locked-out state. Ensure the shank is clean and fully seated to the correct insertion depth in the toolholder before torquing the set screw or collet nut. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts, as excessive runout will accelerate wear on a tight-tolerance tool of this diameter. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling manufacturer feeds-and-speeds guidelines for the specific workpiece material being cut.
