The GUHRING 9024640031000 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for precision drilling in non-ferrous and light-alloy materials. Manufactured to DIN specification in the Series 2464 product line, this bit features a FIREX coating that improves surface hardness and wear resistance during high-cycle machining operations. The 118-degree faceted point with web thinning promotes accurate entry and reduces thrust force. At 3.1 mm in diameter with a 65 mm overall length, it fits standard straight-cylindrical collet and chuck tooling. Two spiral flutes with a regular helix provide efficient chip evacuation. Material grade K40 carbide ensures rigidity and edge retention in demanding production environments.
This drill bit is suited for machining aluminum and other non-ferrous materials, classified under primary workpiece material code N. It is appropriate for general-purpose drilling in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual toolroom operations where tight diameter tolerances and consistent hole quality are required. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio allows for drilling depths up to approximately 31.35 mm in a single pass without coolant-through capability. It is typically selected by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working with aluminum castings, extrusions, and sheet stock.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit in the Guhring Series 2464 line, suited for use in straight-shank collet chucks and standard drill chuck tooling across CNC and manual machines accepting 3.1 mm shank tooling.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle at a full stop and machine power isolated. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the collet or chuck is torqued per the toolholder manufacturer's specification. This bit does not support coolant-through delivery; use flood or mist coolant externally when drilling aluminum to prevent chip re-cutting and heat buildup. Inspect the cutting edges and FIREX coating for chipping before each use to avoid workpiece damage or out-of-tolerance holes.
