The GUHRING 9017020075400 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. Built to DIN 6539 standards, this bit features a 140-degree split point (SU geometry) with web thinning to reduce thrust and improve centering on entry. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 7.54 mm in diameter and seats securely in standard drill chucks or collet holders. With a 2-flute spiral configuration and a flute-to-diameter ratio of 3xD, it clears chips efficiently during short-cycle, high-feed operations. Rated for primary use in stainless steel, it carries an m7 diameter tolerance for precision-fit hole work.
This bit is sized at 19/64 inch (0.2969 inches) diameter and is well suited for production drilling, maintenance shops, and job-site work where stainless steel, hardened alloys, or other tough materials are encountered. Screw machine length geometry keeps the bit rigid and reduces deflection in short-hole applications, making it a common choice for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held operations where hole location and finish matter. It is typically installed and used by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and experienced metalworking tradespeople.
Designed as an OEM-specification replacement and production cutting tool in GUHRING Series 1702. Suitable for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand drilling equipment accepting a straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece material is stainless steel; the solid carbide construction also supports use in other high-hardness metalworking applications within the 0.2500 to 0.3000 inch drill bit size range.
Installation and use of carbide drill bits should be performed by qualified machinists or metalworking technicians familiar with cutting tool speeds and feeds for carbide tooling in stainless steel. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before loading or removing the bit from any chuck or collet. Carbide is brittle — avoid side loading, interrupted cuts without proper feed support, or dropping the bit on hard surfaces. Verify chuck runout is within acceptable limits before use to protect the m7 diameter tolerance and bit integrity.
