The GUHRING 9012420104000 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding production environments. Manufactured to DIN 6539 standards, this bit measures 0.4094 inches (10.40 mm) in diameter with a 140-degree split point and a web-thinned geometry that reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation. The overall length is 89.00 mm with a flute length of 43.00 mm. With a straight-cylindrical shank and two regular spiral flutes, this bit is built for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machine setups where tight tolerances and consistent performance are required. Installation and use is handled by machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
This drill bit is intended for right-hand cutting in cast iron and steel workpieces at a screw machine length classification, making it well suited for short-hole drilling applications where rigidity and accuracy are priorities. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and parallel web configuration support chip clearance in deeper passes up to a maximum drilling depth of 1.0790 inches (27.40 mm). The submicron carbide grade and coated finish contribute to extended tool life in ferrous materials at elevated feed and speed conditions.
Designed for drilling cast iron and steel workpieces. Compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 10.40 mm cylindrical shank. Fits drill presses, CNC machining centers, and screw machines configured for DIN 6539 series tooling. Diameter tolerance of plus 0.007 to plus 0.025 mm supports use in applications requiring consistent hole sizing within the 0.4000 to 0.4500 inch diameter range.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists with the machine powered down and locked out per applicable machine safety procedures. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully within the chuck or collet to the recommended grip depth before operation. This bit does not support coolant-through delivery, so external coolant or cutting fluid should be applied at the point of cut when machining steel or cast iron. Inspect the cutting edges and coating condition before each use and replace the bit if chipping or wear is observed.
