The GUHRING 9010180014000 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for precision drilling in tough materials. It features a 135-degree split point that reduces walking and requires no center punch on most materials. The bronze oxide coating provides lubricity and corrosion resistance during cutting. With a parabolic flute geometry and web-thinned point, this bit evacuates chips efficiently and maintains cutting speed in harder steels, stainless, and heat-resistant alloys. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and general fabrication shops are the primary users of this bit.
This drill bit suits general-purpose drilling applications in metalworking environments including production machining, maintenance and repair operations, and light manufacturing. The 1.40 mm diameter and 40.00 mm overall length place it in the small-diameter range, appropriate for precision hole work in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It conforms to DIN and NAS specification designations, making it a suitable drop-in for shops with metric tooling standards. The right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional drill press and CNC spindle use.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber drill conforming to DIN and NAS standards, compatible with standard drill chucks accepting straight-cylindrical shanks in the 0.0500 to 0.1000 inch decimal inch size range.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by machinists or qualified metalworking technicians familiar with speeds and feeds for cobalt tooling. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operating and verify spindle runout is within acceptable limits for small-diameter tooling. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant to maximize tool life, as this bit does not support through-coolant. Inspect the cutting edges for wear before each use and replace when point geometry is compromised.
